Yesterday we worked on the 2 pattern A Milli beat. Today we're going to learn how to copy the beat to track. The track is the bottom part of the screen on reason. It is very important to learn how to do this because this plays a role in how we turn our beats into full songs later in the semester. Lets get started.
1. Open Reason
2. Load in your A Milli beat from yesterday. If you didn't do yesterdays assignment, be sure to do that first before continuing this lesson.
3. Now that your beat is loaded, click on the Redrum Drum Computer. Click anywhere on one of the green/brown parts of the Redrum.
4. Make sure that you're on Pattern 1. Go to the EDIT menu and click COPY PATTERN TO TRACK.
5. 8 small boxes should have shown up on the bottom part, the "Track" of Reason.
6. Now that we have Pattern 1 copied to the track, delete the last 2 boxes from the bottom.
7. Switch over to Pattern 2.
8. On the lower right hand corner of Reason, you'll notice an "L" (Left) & "R" (Right) with numbers next to them. Turn the "L" up to #7, do NOT move "R".
9. With "L" at 7, copy Pattern 2 to the track. Now move "L" back to 1.
10. Click the "PATTERN" button on the Redrum, then press play. If you don't click the "PATTERN" button, the beat will sound very weird.
11. You should have 6 boxes of Pattern 1, 2 boxes of Pattern 2.
12. When you're finished, let me or Vernell know and we'll your work.
13. SAVE YOUR BEAT IN YOUR FOLDER!!!!
14. Now, if we have time, start a NEW beat with only 1 Pattern. Copy that pattern to the track.
